Changes are coming to the summer programming at 93.7 The Ticket. It was our pleasure to bring you nearly every Kansas City Royals game since Opening Day of 2012. And we were extremely proud to broadcast every inning of their World Championship run in 2015. We are grateful for the relationships that we created with the Royals Radio Network, and most of all, the “True Blue” Kansas City fan base right here in Lincoln.
Last fall, during the MLB Postseason, we saw Lincoln come alive again. All over town, fans came out in droves, dressed in blue, to follow another Midwest team to a World Series Title. It is because of this that today we proudly announce 93.7 The Ticket is the new home of the Chicago Cubs in Lincoln. The Ticket joins the now 31 station Cubs Radio Network to carry at least 150 Chicago Cubs games this season. It’s clear that the Cubs have a strong, passionate fan base here in Lincoln, which in the end, made the decision to bring them to this great city for the first time ever, a grand slam.
Baseball has been part of the DNA of this radio station since our inception. It was important to us to maintain that aspect of our identity. Ultimately, every decision we make has the listeners of this station and the citizens of Lincoln in mind. Lincoln has spoken, and we can’t wait to bring you Chicago Cubs Baseball this season and into the future.
UPDATE: A message from Jessica Framke, General Manager
“To our loyal listeners of 93.7 FM
I wanted to clarify a few things about our big announcement this morning. We are so excited to be the new home of the Chicago Cubs. This is the first time ever Cubs Baseball will be brought to Lincoln. We are honored to begin this partnership. With that being said, we made this decision based on few different things, from a business standpoint. One of which being the fact that the Royals were no longer a feasible option to carry on our radio station. We were notified that they would be going to AM radio here in Lincoln. As true sports fans we encourage you to listen to all their games and as die hard Royals fans we expect that, and then flip the station back to 93.7 FM The Ticket and listen to our 9 hours of local sports talk radio every weekday. You can also call us bandwagoners…we kind of are, but we want to bring you summer baseball, and what better team to do it with than the World Series Champions, the Chicago Cubs?
