The Brett Kane Show w/ Michael Snow: August 14th, 4pm

  • The Maryland situation

We’ll hear from Erik Chinander and defensive assistants/players today after practice…what questions need to be answered?

-Is a pass rush being developed anywhere? Is Cam Taylor still making a push to play, and is anyone we thought a lock as a starter maybe battling for a job now? Lots to address here.

Robin Washut (Husker Online) / Shut Up Sipple

-Fill us in in on Dedoch Chan…what should fans expect out of him? Anybody else on the horizon to fill open scholarship?

-How concerned are you about Miles’ plan beyond this season? Losing 3 or 4 starters after this season, and unless Dachon Burke is a stud transfer, could be rough

-Are you on the Maurice Washington hype train?

Can Nebraska use in-state talent to the level it did in the 90s?

-Dirk Chatelain has been doing a series for the World-Herald that shows how poorly Nebraska has recruited the state since the late 90s/early 2000s, and how players like Drew Ott, who played well at Iowa and was from Giltner, NE, were looked over and not recruited hard

-The talent in the state has gone elsewhere since Nebraska started not caring as much anymore, can getting more to come to the Huskers change things up for the better?

The Clippers are so serious about pursuing Kawhi Leonard next year that they dumped a color commentator for negative comments

-Former NBA player Bruce Bowen served one year as the Clippers color commentator, and was relieved of his duties on Sunday because he made negative comments about Kawhi Leonard. Showing your cards a bit much? Warranted firing or ridiculous?

-Also, SONG OF THE DAY:

Surprise, surprise: ESPN lists Nebraska/Michigan as one of the 5 ‘biggest’ games of the 2018 B1G slate

-Kind of feels weird in Frost’s first season to put Nebraska in any of the biggest games in what he doesn’t want to call a rebuild—but it’s definitely something of that degree.

-It’s mostly there because it’s important for Michigan if they want to get to a conference championship, they can’t slip up. And Nebraska might be that giant-killer in Frost’s first year, before they become a giant themselves.

The chances of a Maryland scandal happening at Nebraska seem slim—and here’s why

-Ohio State and Maryland both have issues on their hands at this point, but only Maryland’s is about actual treatment of players in training and practice. Allegations include a toxic culture that is full of fear and intimidation

-Why would that not happen at Nebraska? You have to believe that Zac Duvall and the rest of the staff were tough on these guys for the poor shape they were in. You did have 2 guys get rhabdo because of tough workouts, but neither one of them complained about it. Why does it seem like Nebraska is fine?
