A Canadian man has forgotten reasons for calling 911

  • A report out of Canada says a man from Hamilton called 911 to complain about his McDonald’s meal being cold, which he had delivered by Uber Eats…have you ever called to complain about delivery?
  • It takes a special kind of dumb to call 911 about food delivery…

Sean Callahan (Husker Online) / Shut Up Sipple

  • Another projection of 5-7 for Nebraska is out there with the Massey Ratings…but do some of the numbers of ‘chance of win’ he puts out there shock you? 14% chance of beating Iowa, for real?
  • Is this the last time that an expectation of simply making a bowl game will be enough at Nebraska?
  • Could a mandatory national injury report ever really happen in college football?

How long does the Scott Frost honeymoon last for? The full 2018 season or until Nebraska suffers their first major blowout loss…..or later?

  • Nebraska has been embarrassed in many marquee games over the past 15 years where it’s been far too common to see games get away from them and embarrassing numbers in points given up and yardage, too—in the Callahan, Pelini and Riley eras. All are guilty—some less than others—but all are guilty
  • Go back to Pelini for a second. He was many fan’s favorite to land the job, and was a popular hire by most accounts. He also turned a teams that went 5-7 the year before he got to Lincoln into a 9 win team in his first year. How long did his honeymoon last for? It was a pretty solid first 3 years for him…but it would be surprising to see this team get 9 wins this year

Back to expectations again—if Jeff Brohm could win 7 games in his first year at lowly Purdue, why is 6 the number we say for Scott Frost in year 1 in Lincoln?

  • Everyone mocked Purdue for their terrible recruiting rankings and overall performance under Darrell Hazell — as they very well should have — but here comes Jeff Brohm from Western Kentucky and in year 1 at a place with much less talent and tradition, made them a scary ‘out’ every single game, and a 7 win team
  • In Nebraska’s defense, Purdue in 2017 didn’t have the gauntlet of death of road opponents…is that the only difference, though?

Massey Ratings put Nebraska at 63rd best team in the nation and a 5- record…reality check time!

  • The ratings, done by Kenneth Massey—a statistician—go through the percentage chances that a team has in its season. The good news? Massey has Nebraska starting 3-0 with wins against Akron, Troy, and Colorado in non-conference. The bad news? Massey has Nebraska going 2-7 in conference play.
  • Some numbers are sad but believable; only a 4% chance against both Ohio State and Wisconsin; an 18% chance of victory against Northwestern; 14% chance vs. Iowa; and on Nebraska’s HOME FIELD, underdogs to Purdue (43% chance of win for Nebraska)
