November 10th: Picks of the Weekend

-TCU/Oklahoma;    Miami (FL)/ Notre Dame;    Georgia/Auburn;     Nebraska/Minnesota

November 10th: The $5 Bits of Broken Chair trophy returns this weekend…will you ever get jacked for B1G trophies? / Shut Up Sipple

-The trophy went away for awhile but is back—and will be in Minneapolis this weekend for the winner

-It, of course, was a creation of Faux Pelini, who is no longer really associated with Husker football…but will fans ever really love the idea of trophy games?

November 10th: Can you think of a game that you have ever been less compelled by more than tomorrow’s Minnesota/Nebraska game?

-2 teams under .500 that are fighting for nothing more than bowl eligibility, at 11am in the morning in frigid Minneapolis. Yay.

-This is part of the reason why Riley can’t come back. People will be watching, but the interest is so low that it won’t really matter if Nebraska wins or loses. Fans are checked out on the season, and that’s just where things are at.

November 10th: Tim Miles says he expects no one to redshirt this year….do you think he can really get all those guys to play?

-Nana Akenten and Thorir Thorbjarnarson seemed like redshirt candidates, but Tim Miles said on Thursday that he expects everyone to play…is this a last-ditch way to try and keep his job?

-Also, SONG OF THE DAY:                                                                   And, PISSED OFF POPPE:

November 10th: Gary Patterson says he interviewed at Nebraska in 2007 but he could tell they were already sold on Bo Pelini..would things have been different if Patterson was hired?

-Hindsight is always 20/20, but Patterson had been a coach for 8 years by that time at TCU with 2 conference championships, and Pelini was an up-and-coming defensive coordinator that obviously was successful in 2003 at Nebraska

-Is it fair to bring that up when looking at ‘what could have been’? Bo really wasn’t that bad—3 conference title appearances in a 7 year span—but had bad blowouts that hurt, as well as sideline antics that were a downfall—but would Patterson for sure have bettered him?
