September 29th: Picks of the Weekend…..and Alex’s Expert Analysis

-Alex’s Expert Analysis: Illinois

-Games: NEB/ILL;   USC/Wash St;

September 29th: If the offense struggles tonight, can the defense carry the team again? / Shut Up Sipple

-Nebraska’s defense has been pretty good over the last 10 quarters of play, although the previous 2 games were against less-than-stellar offenses….will they show up again tonight and carry the team if needed? No Marcus Newby or Joshua Kalu…and of course, still no Chris Jones

September 29th: Will Nebraska ride the running game tonight or will they make the mistake that cost them 2 years ago in a loss at Illinois?

-As you recall, Tommy Armstrong went 10/31 passing for 105 yds and an INT in a shocking 14-13 loss to Illinois on a cold, windy day in Champaign in 2015….will Langsdorf and Riley learn their lesson from that and simply try to impose their will in the run game? Can Nebraska be consistently good enough in run game?

-You also have a QB who despite saying he has confidence, is a guy that has 3 pick-6s in the past 2 games and could have had more INTs that were dropped—and he leads FBS with 9 INTs…run game needs to help him out

September 29th: This weekend marks the end of a Kansas City Royals era that will be hard to top

-The Royals, eliminated from playoff contention, host the playoff-bound Diamondbacks for a 3-game series, that could be the last series in KC for Eric Hosmer, Mike Moustakas, Lorenzo Cain, Jason Vargas, and Alcides Escobar…will they keep any of those guys, and will it matter? Will KC ever get back to a World Series? Tough to get head around the chance that many or all of those guys won’t be back…

-Also, SONG OF THE DAY:                                                                   And, PISSED OFF POPPE:

September 29th: Can one good game get Tanner Lee back on track for the rest of the season?

-Tanner Lee has been disappointing, to say the least, but we know that he still has talent and is capable of being a good QB. So say he has 3 TDs, 300 yds, and no INTs tonight against Illinois…is that enough for him to turn the corner? Or do you always have concerns of locking on to WRs because of first 4 games?

-If he hits one of the deep plays that have eluded him the past few games, maybe that’s the spark

September 29th: It’s Gameday….on a Friday….LET’S GET WEIRD! What do you need to see tonight to believe that Nebraska can give Wisconsin and Ohio State a push in next 2 weeks?

For Sorensen, it’s a question of can you finally dominate a team you should beat from start to finish, and not be in an uncomfortable spot late in the game? Nebraska has more talent than Illinois, but have come out of the gate flat all season. To think they ‘d have any chance against Wisconsin/Ohio State would mean they come out strong and stay strong the whole game

-This might be Nebraska’s only chance the remainder of the season to potentially dominate a team. Can they and will they? Why shouldn’t that be an expectation?
