Today is the first day of March….is there an argument to be had that March is the best sports month of the year?

Weather gets nicer, and you have College Baseball in full swing; College Hoops conference tourneys and March Madness; Spring Football; NFL Free Agency; MLB Spring Training…….there’s a chance!

Mike Schaefer (247 Sports/Huskers Illustrated) / Shut Up Sipple

What are the biggest things you’re looking for when Spring Practice begins this Saturday?

In your time recovering recruiting, how important has early playing time been in getting interest from recruits compared to other schools?

Who wins the RB battle for Nebraska?

Are we counting Patrick O’Brien out of the race for starting QB too early?

Why not POB? More capable of running than Tanner Lee is…and he does show a lot of touch when throwing the ball

Most would say that Lee has the lead, but this could definitely be a legitimate battle. POB said he know it mid-season last year and started to get competitive, according to Nate Clouse (quoted in Sip’s Drive for 6)

Is there ever an excuse for a Power Conference team to go 18 years without having a player drafted into the NBA?

We’ve discussed in past shows, but Nebraska’s last player drafted to the league was Venson Hamilton in the 2nd round of the 1999 NBA Draft. Danny Nee had 9 players drafted in his tenure at NU….and NO ONE since has had even ONE. How?!

Teams like Morehead State, Weber State, Norfolk State, and Lehigh have had players drafted to the league in past few years, but none from Nebraska. Seems unfathomable.

Is limiting the big play defensively what it will take for Nebraska to get over the hump?

Sam McKewon article in World-Herald…mentions that Bob Diaco’s defenses at Notre Dame were essentially the same level as the 2010 Husker defense, which was pretty good and a good team overall…

Over the past 6 years, Nebraska has been quite poor in stopping big plays…will this defensive change make the impact necessary to improve that?

Mike Riley meets with media today for his pre-spring press conference…what do you want to hear from him today?

Will he express confidence in one unit more than another? Will he commit to a QB? Will they have any live scrimmages early on with the switch to the 3-4 defense?

Lots of questions on our minds….let’s see if the big man is ready for all of it
